Side effects from using the Nova products may include, but not limited to the following:
Weight loss, increased energy, vitality and/or libido, appetite suppressant, better feeling of self, positive mood, clearer complexion, desiring healthier foods, smiling more, sleeping better, thicker hair and nails, lower blood pressure, doing more in life and better overall health and longevity.

Alfalfa: Known as the “great healer”, Alfalfa contains 8 essential enzymes. Beta-carotene or Vitamin A: A non-toxic precursor to vitamin A; sometimes known as “provitamin A.” Nova uses the Beta Carotene form because there is not the danger of toxicity. Also Beta-carotene, an antioxidant, has been shown to be a preventative for certain types of cancer.  It is helpful in lowering levels of harmful cholesterol and is a significant factor in reducing the risk of heart disease! Beta-carotene is known for its aid in the proper function of the immune system and helps promote growth, strong bones, healthy skin, hair, teeth, and gums. Beta-carotene also has been used in the treatment of emphysema and hyperthyroidism as Beta-carotene protects mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, throat, and lungs. It also helps protect Vitamin C from oxidation so your Vitamin C will work better.

Betaine: A substance that may serve as a precursor to choline.

Bioavailability: The amount of a nutrient that enters the bloodstream and thus reaches the tissues and organs of the body.

Bioflavonoids: A group of brightly colored, water-soluble compounds found in certain plants. Bioflavonoids, Rutin, and Hesperidin, the companions of natural vitamin C, are known antioxidants and are believed to contribute to capillary integrity thereby preventing bruising. Bioflavonoids, along with Rutin and Hesperidin, aid Vitamin C in keeping connective tissues healthy as well as increasing the effectiveness of the other benefits of Vitamin C.

Biotin: A water-soluble, sulfur-containing B vitamin in which plays an essential role in the rnetabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.

Calcium: Calcium and Magnesium work together for healthy bones, teeth, and for cardiovascular health. Calcium and Iron are the two major dietary deficiencies in American woman. Calcium can help:  maintain strong bones and teeth, keep your heart beating regularly, alleviate insomnia, metabolize your body’s iron, and aid your nervous system. Too much phosphorus can deplete calcium, if you drink lots of soft drinks, which have a high content of phosphorus, you may be depleting your body of calcium and increasing your chances of osteoporosis.
Nova’s chelated calcium tablets are the best form available.

Cellulose: One of the most commonly used tablet and capsule excipients. A white, odorless, tasteless powder derived from wood pulp. Functions as an adsorbent, a suspending agent, a diluent, and a tablet disintegrant. Also known as microcrystalline cellulose.

Chelate: A compound formed when a metallic ion is bound to an organic molecule; used to improve availability of minerals.

Chlorophyll: The green pigment in plants which permits them to manufacture food with almost the same chemical structure as human blood! Chlorophyll possesses antibiotic and positive antibacterial action and can help as a wound-healing agent.

Choline (Bitartrate): Water soluble so must be replaced daily. Choline works with inositol to utilize fats and cholesterol and helps emulsify cholesterol so it doesn’t settle on artery walls or in the gall bladder. Choline is famous for its ability to penetrate the “blood-brain” barrier, which protects the brain, and go directly into the brain cells to produce a chemical that aids memory. Choline can help aid your liver in eliminating poisons and drugs from your system, so if you are a heavy drinker, this is good!!

Chromium: A trace mineral which acts cooperatively with other substances that control the metabolism of sugar; a component of the glucose tolerance factor and activator of certain enzymes. Chromium can help aid growth, help prevent and lower high blood pressure and work as a deterrent for diabetes. Diabetics should monitor their insulin levels when taking the Nova Starpack product as some customers have reported lowering their insulin shot levels!

Copper: A trace mineral involved in iron metabolism and essential for the formation of hemoglobin; a component of several enzyme systems. Copper can help keep your energy up by aiding in effective iron absorption.

Cyanocobalamin Or Vitamin B12: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. B12 vitamins help form and regenerate red blood cells and help to prevent anemia. They help increase energy, maintain a healthy nervous system, help your body to properly utilize fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, help relieve irritability and improve concentration, memory, and balance.
Di-calcium phosphate: A capsule and tablet diluent, used to evenly disperse ingredients to provide improved consistency. Also known as dibasic calcium phosphate.

Folic Acid: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. Folic acid is essential to the formation of red blood cells and aids in protein metabolism.  Folic acid can help: protect against intestinal parasites and food poisoning, promote healthier-looking skin, help ward off anemia, act as an analgesic for pain, and helpful in preventing birth defects.

Nova currently has 1,200 mcg of Folic Acid so may be taken as a prenatal formula, check with your doctor.

Hesperidin: A bioflavonoid derived from citrus fruit. See Bioflavonoids.

Inositol: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. Inositol combines with choline to form lecithin and is helpful in metabolizing fats and cholesterol. Inositol can help lower cholesterol levels, promote healthy hair and aid in preventing fallout, can help in preventing eczema and has been known to produce a calming effect. Nova’s formulation of Inositol and Choline also help maximize the effectiveness of the Vitamin E!

Iodine: An essential nutrient used in producing thyroid hormones (2/3 of the body’s iodine is in the thyroid gland) which affect physical and mental growth, the functioning of nerves and muscles, and metabolism. Iodine can help: with dieting by burning excess fat, promote proper growth, give you more energy, and promote healthy hair, nails, skin, and teeth.

Iron: An essential mineral needed to build red blood cells, red pigment in muscles, and certain enzymes. It is essential and required for life because of this. Iron and Calcium are the two major dietary deficiencies in American woman. Iron is necessary for proper metabolization of the B vitamins. Iron can help:  aid growth, promote resistance to disease, prevent fatigue, cure and prevent iron-deficiency anemia, and bring back good skin tone. Nova knows Iron is difficult for your body to assimilate, so the “Krebs Cycle Chelation” form is used for fastest assimilation. Most Iron supplements contain Ferrous sulfate, an inorganic iron, a cheaper form, which can destroy your Vitamin E benefits!

Magnesium: An essential mineral found in bones, teeth, and red blood cells, magnesium activates many enzyme systems (such as those involved in protein digestion and energy production); affects calcium metabolism; and is essential for effective nerve and muscle functioning. Magnesium is known as the anti-stress mineral, especially when combined with calcium. Magnesium can help:  aid in fighting depression, promote a healthier cardiovascular system and help prevent heart attacks, keep teeth healthier, help prevent calcium deposits, kidney and gallstones, and bring relief from indigestion. Alcoholics are usually deficient in Magnesium, take the Nova Starpacks!!!

Magnesium Stearate: One of the most commonly used excipients. Functions as an effective capsule and tablet lubricant, aiding in the processing and improving the flow characteristics of the formula. Generally used in concentrations of 0.5 – 5%.

Manganese: An essential mineral which activates enzyme systems involved in protein and energy metabolisin. Manganese is involved in connective tissue, and bone formation, insulin action, and cholesterol synthesis. Manganese is important in the formation of thyroxin, the principal hormone of the thyroid gland. Manganese can help:  eliminate fatigue, aid in muscle reflexes, help prevent osteoporosis, improve memory, and reduce nervous irritability.

Molybdenum: A trace mineral which plays a role in three enzyme systems involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Molybdenum can help in preventing anemia and promoting general well-being due to its vital part of the enzyme responsible for iron utilization.

Niacin and Niacinamide: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. It has been shown that the lack of Niacin can bring about negative personality changes! Niacin is essential for the synthesis of sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), as well as cortisone, thyroxin, and insulin. Both are necessary for healthy nervous systems and brain functions. Niacin and Niacinamide can help:  aid in promoting a healthy digestive system, give you healthier-looking skin, increase circulation and reduce high blood pressure, increase energy through proper utilization of food, help eliminate canker sores, and reduce cholesterol and triglycerides.

PABA: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. Para-amino benzoic acid (PABA), an essential part of the folacin molecule and helps form folic acid and is important to the utilization of protein. PABA can help:  keep skin healthy and smooth, in delaying wrinkles (skin care is just that, skin deep!!), and reduce the pain of burns.

Vitamin B5 or Pantothenic Acid: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. Vitamin B5 are helpful in cell building, maintaining normal growth, development of the central nervous system, vital for the proper functioning of the adrenal glands, essential for conversion of fat and sugar to energy, and necessary for synthesis of antibodies to help fight infections. Vitamin B5 can aid in wound healing, can help prevent fatigue, and help treat postoperative shock.

Phosphorus: Phosphorus is present in very cell in the body and involved in all physiological chemical reactions. It is necessary for normal bone and tooth structure, it is important for heart regularity and essential for normal kidney functioning. Phosphorus can help:  aid in growth and body repair, provide energy by helping in the metabolization of fats and starches, lessen the pain of arthritis, and promote healthy gums and teeth.

Potassium: The third most abundant element in the human body. This essential mineral is involved in acid-base balance, the transfer of nutrients into and out of cells, insulin secretion, muscle relaxation, and various enzyme reactions. It works with sodium to regulate the body’s water balance and normalize heart rhythms. Potassium can be depleted by both mental and physical stress. Potassium can help:  aid in clear thinking because it sends oxygen to the brain, help dispose of body wastes, assist in reducing blood pressure, and aid in allergy treatment.\

Pyridoxine HCI Or Vitamin B6: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. B6 vitamins must be present for the production of antibodies and red blood cells. They help prevent various nervous and skin disorders, help alleviate nausea, promote proper synthesis of anti-aging nucleic acids, and help reduce night muscle spasms, leg cramps, and hand numbness. Vitamins B6 has been shown to decrease a diabetic’s requirement for insulin, so watch for this if you are a diabetic!

RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance): The minimum amount of desired nutrients considered essential for good health. It’s important to remember, though, that this is the minimum amount and not necessarily the best amount for optimum health. The term “RDA�? is still commonly used, but is considered somewhat outdated.

Riboflavin or Vitamin B2: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. B2 vitamins aid in growth and reproduction, promote healthy skin, nails, and hair, benefits vision, helps with eye fatigue, sore mouth, lips, and tongue, and is helpful in metabolizing carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.

Rutin: A bioflavonoid obtained from buckwheat leaves. See Bioflavonoids.

Selenium: A rare trace mineral and antioxidant that protects cells against free-radical damage as part of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase. Selenium helps you receive more benefits from Vitamin E. Males may have a greater need for Selenium as half their body’s supply concentrates in the testicles and portions of the seminal ducts and Selenium is also lost in semen. Selenium can help:  aid in keeping a youthful elasticity in tissues, alleviate hot flashes and menopausal distress, and possibly provide protection from some cancers.

Siberian Ginseng: The Chinese have been using Ginseng for approximately 5,000 years! They still believe it is a preventive and cure-all. It is well accepted that Ginseng is a stimulant of both mental and physical energy. Its reputed benefits include cures for impotence, high and low blood pressure, anemia, arthritis, indigestion, insomnia, fatigue, hypoglycemia, poor circulation, and it also helps you assimilate vitamins and minerals by acting as an endocrine-gland stimulant.

Stearic Acid: A vegetable-derived and commonly utilized capsule and tablet lubricant or emulsifying agent. Frequently used in combination with magnesium stearate.

Thiamine or Vitamin B1: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. B1 vitamins help promote growth, aids in digestion, especially carbohydrates, helps improve your mental attitude, and helps your nervous system, muscles, and heart functioning normally.

Tocopherol: Any of four different forms (alpha-, beta-, gamma-, delta-) of vitamin E. Alpha-tocopherol has the greatest vitamin E activity. Synthetic dI-alpha-tocopherol has the same activity as natural alpha-tocopherol.

Vanadium: A trace mineral involved in growth, reproduction, and red blood cells. Vanadium inhibits the formation of cholesterol in blood vessels and can help in preventing heart attacks.

Vitamin: Any organic substance essential for the health, growth, reproduction, and maintenance of the body. Vitamins usually act as coenzymes or precursors of coenzymes in regulating metabolic processes, but do not provide energy.

Vitamin C: Water soluble so must be replaced daily. The majority of animals produce their own Vitamin C daily in their bodies, all except HUMANS, apes, and guinea pigs! We must supply it daily! Vitamins C, an antioxidant, has been found to play a primary role in the formation of collagen (helps the growth and repair of body tissue cells, gums, blood vessels, bones, and teeth), increase your immune system’s ability, and can prevent scurvy. Vitamin C has also been found to helpful in healing wounds, burns, and bleeding gums, in decreasing blood cholesterol, in aiding the prevention of many types of viral and bacterial infections, has been shown to offer protection against cancer-producing agents and helps counteract the formation of nitrosamines (cancer-causing substances). Vitamin C can act as a natural laxative, can lower the incident of blood clots in veins, can aid in the treatment and prevention of the common cold, can help allergies and extend life by enabling protein cells to hold together.

Vitamin C is excreted in 2-3 hours so Nova’s time-released form provides the optimum benefits. It is recommended to add an extra Vitamin C or two at night to keep a constant level of Vitamin C in your bloodstream, sold in bottles of 90 tablets and so worth it!!

Vitamin D or Cholecalciferol: Fat soluble so Nova offers it in the “dry” form. Vitamin D can aid in preventing colds along with Vitamins A and C, can help in the treatment of conjunctivitis, and helps properly utilize calcium and phosphorus necessary for strong bones and teeth.

Vitamin E or D-Alpha & Mixed Tocopherols: Fat soluble so Nova offers it in the “dry” form. Vitamin E, an antioxidant, can help:  retard cellular aging due to oxidation (look younger!), give you more endurance because of it’s ability to supply oxygen to the body, protect your lungs against air pollution, prevent and dissolve blood clots, help with fatigue, accelerate healing of burns, and help lower blood pressure because of it’s diuretic effects.

Zinc: An essential trace mineral needed for normal skin, bones, and hair; proper wound healing and insulin function; and enzyme systems involved in digestion and respiration. Zinc is thought of as a traffic policeman, directing and overseeing the efficient flow of body processes, the maintenance of enzyme systems and cells. Studies have shown Zinc important in brain functions and the treatment of schizophrenia. Most Zinc in foods is lost in processing or never exists due to nutrient-poor soils. Zinc can help:  accelerate healing time for wounds, aid in the treatment of infertility, help avoid prostate problems, promote growth and mental alertness, help decrease cholesterol deposits, and aid in the treatment of mental disorders.

All oil soluble vitamins, Vitamin A, D, E, and K, are recommended to be taken in the “dry” form that Nova provides for anyone prone to upset stomachs from oil, or for skin conditions and acne sufferers, and for dieters who cut most of fat from their diets.

Nova’s B complex pills are formulated in the prescribed amounts because B vitamins are more potent when taken together than when used separately. B1, B2, and B6 should be equally balanced to be most effective. Nova wants you to get the most benefits out of your B vitamins because they are so helpful in all your stress situations, anxiety, disease, and even driving creates stress!
